Default Rewire in PTHD 11.3.2?

I thought ReWire was an included plugin in version 11 but I can't find it anywhere in ProTools or on my system drive. What am I doing wrong? It doesn't show up in the plugin menu for a stereo aux track like it does on a Mac. How do I get it?

Default Re: Rewire in PTHD 11.3.2?

I downloaded Soundminer HD + for Windows and installed it along with a rewire.exe application they included. I followed the instructions to delete the plugin list to force PT to rescan the folder but Rewire still does not show up in any plugin menu.

I also downloaded Reaper at the request of Soundminer and was able to see rewire for Soundminer in that program so Soundminer claims that proves Rewire was correctly installed and the issue is in ProTools.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
David

Now you’ve installed Reaper, use Reaper to host Soundminer HD+ in Pro Tools.

Open Pro Tools first (don’t open Reaper first) – add a Stereo Instrument Track and load Reaper from Pro Tools Instrument Menu. ReWire will automatically appear. ReWire is included in Pro Tools 11 – but you won’t see ReWire listed in the Plug-Ins Menu in Windows.

PS - I’ve never used the Soundminer HD+ search engine, so I hope I'm guessing correctly!

Default Re: Rewire in PTHD 11.3.2? SOLVED

This is the answer to the problem:

http://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/...s-preferences/

Previously I was told to only trash the "InstalledAAXPlugIns" file, not the entire PT folder. After deleting the entire PT folder at this address \username\appdata\roaming\avid\ it resets PT to as if it was a brand new installation.

I launched PT and it scanned the plugin folder as before when only deleting the single file but this time it did find the soundminer rewire plugin and made it available in the instrument plugin tree.

Does that make sense? Unfortunately you lose all your other preferences I/O setup etc...

So to get around that I first copied the entire contents of the PT folder to a different location, deleted the PT folder, launched PT and it found Soundminer. Then I re-opened up the new \username\appdata\roaming\avid\ProTools folder and deleted all the files EXCEPT the "InstalledAAXPlugIns". I then copied back all the files from the moved PT folder except the old "InstalledAAXPlugins" and then re-opened PT. PT still found Soundminer ReWire and all my preferences / I/O were back to normal. It's easy if you do it right but hard to explain.

There's a fantastic App called Trasher that will back up all your settings for when you next delete your Preferences.
Download Trasher Version 11:

Best news is that you got it sorted - goodonya!
