Feature Requests
Hi everyone. I've got an idea that I'd love to see in the next update: 'Padding' for AudioSuite processing
Lemme explain: Padding can be added in milliseconds when executing 'compact selected'. The command creates a new audio-file slightly larger that the selected region to allow 'room' for x-fades or trimming. The amount of extra room (='padding') can be set by the user. The same would be very useful for all AudioSuite processing, so that the processed section can be trimmed / x-faded. A general setting in the preferences would do. Settings in ms or s. Maybe even linked to the Main Time Scale. What do you reckon? Useful? What would you like to add to PT? Cheers, J. |

Re: Feature Requests
Audiosuite handles. Ranked #13 on Ideascale.

Re: Feature Requests
True, but I kinda like "Padding" rather than "handles"......

Re: Feature Requests
I don't care what you call it, I want it.
However.... nothing would actually be cross faded because padding would all just be dead regions. Since simply expanding an audio region, much like highlighting and then activating "consolidate region." Yes your region expands, but there is nothing in the newly expanded region that was not originally there. While this can be helpful, this doesn't give you any more of a benefit than fading the adjacent region out by itself. I do think though that the entire parent region should be processed in the background, so that the current state region could be trimmed back or forwards to reveal the "padding" that lives "behind" other regions. That would help crossfading alot, if Pro Tools were smart enough to anticipate edits by audiosuiting more than just what is seen on the edit canvas. However this points towards a request I made for region states under a right click option similar to what exists in Logic. Best, Doc |
