Default Digitizing Analog tape

Relative newcomer, trying to digitize a friend's first sermon from a cassette tape. I've got RCA cables hooked to the Line Out jacks on the back of the tape deck into the TRS inserts on the first generation mbox. Cables are then attached from the TRS line outputs into the audio jack on the back of the mac (OSX 10.5.6), G5 dual processor PPC, Protools LE 7.4). Sound preferences are set to Didgidesign HW (mbox) input and output. I play the tape, record-enable a track in protools, but the mix window shows no activity.

Any clues on what I'm doing wrong? I can't spend too much time on this, but I'd like to learn how to do this, since I've got a couple of my own tapes that I'd like to digitize as well.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Bond

Why are you going through the inserts then into the sound in?

Just go straight from the deck to the line in on the M-Box. Don't clip, but don't worry if the levels are kinda low. You can makeup gain in PT without adding additional noise from pre-A/D gain. Keep it simple.

And route the outputs of the Mbox to powered speakers instead of back into the computer.
