Default need help with volume automation

I apologize if I posted this in the wrong thread. I'm still quite new to ProTools. Just to let everyone know, I'm using a PC and using ProTools LE 8 so maybe the settings could have some differences. The problem I have is keeping a volume settings (is it called volume automation?).

I had a sound at a track that I deleted that had some volume settings that still show in the blank space which is at track 3. When I moved a sound on track 4 volume setting of the sound on track 4 got transferred to track 3. I want to still keep the volume setting for track 3 when I move the sound to it. Does anyone know what I should do?

Also, lets suppose I have a volume setting I want at 3:00 and I am moving a sound around the track. How can I have it where the volume setting does not move with the sound? I don't want to have it permanent, but I just want to have it where I have it both ways where the volume setting moves with the sound or stays in one area. Thank you!

highlight the volume automation and delete
Or alt+click on the dots in the automation lane

@audiogeekzine

Thanks for the reply. I don't need help with deleting the volume automation. What I was trying to do was keep the volume automation on a blank track and move a sound to the blank track without destroying the volume automation on the blank track.

you'll have to remove the original automation before moving the region.

You can move your sound region to a blank track, then high light the automation (from wherever it is), hit apple c or copy, then go to the track your sound region is on and apple v or paste your automation into that track.
