How to route Mackie HUI into TDM so no latency

I keep getting latency when attempting to record some guitar over dubs.Could I possibly running too many plug ins while recording?is my control surface routed correctly?what exactly do I need check as settings for control surface?please any help here would be welcome.I have PT 7.2 96I/O HD Accel 2 card

You will need to post specific system info and details to get help, and I don't use a control surface, so hopefully others will help. But I can suggest isolating the problem:

N.B.: You might want to 'Save session as..." then some new name (like 'SongName Test1'), which could make returning to your original session easier if anything is affected (and will make you feel comfortable to experiment if you think of other things to try).



1 - Turn off/disconnect the control surface and try it.

2 - Disable the plug-ins (all, or at least where you don't need them for the guitar dub), or turn off the voice of any track that is not needed for dubbing..

If #2 helps, consider bouncing a submix just for dubbing purposes, so you can turn off voices on the original tracks.

Are you using an RTAS plugin on the track as you record? I'm not sure if a control surface would affect the latency of an audio track, but an RTAS plugin certainly could.

If this is the case, try lowering your playback engine buffer settings or use a TDM plugin to record.

I am using tdm eq plug ins only here.what should my voices be set at ?

I was in punch recording which need a voice.when I turned punch off I lost Latency.thank you for responses.
