Anyone clone a TB3 backup the boot to it with HDDrivers loading?
This is my current stopper.
Internal dive all is great Motu and Avid drivers all good!
Clone to Owc single blade and boot backup works.
All but I cannot seem to get audio drivers up.
“Read Only” and admin can’t change this.
Mac Studio, Monterey 12.3.1, OWC Encore Express 4Tb blade.

No RAID, just 4 individual drives.

They might be sharing an I/O lane, but as I'd mentioned above I can copy from all 4 SSDs simultaneously and sense no dip in throughput; far more than I'll ever need in daily use.

So it's a successful migration and one thing off the list!

Next is finding that elusive Mac Studio Ultra... I'm still not able to pull the trigger on the June 3rd delivery timeline. Too long. I'll try my luck and landing one locally every day until then.

And you don't expect to as the chassis is hard dividing the available bandwidth in quarters and hard allocating 1/4 to each drive. Drives don't interfere with other drive available bandwidth in any way, but their available bandwidth is only 1/4 of the maximum, and actual maximum I/O performance may be a half or less than a single drive. But depends a lot on what drives and what workloads.

It may makes less sense to put fastest PCIe 4 SSD into these OWC cases, maybe save some money and use slower Samsung Evo drives (check prices but before deciding).

FYI: Every Apple Store will only stock two configurations of the Mac Studio. M1Max with 32GB RAM and 512 SSD or M1Ultra with 64GB RAM and 1TB SSD. Anything other than that, you will need to order online and have it shipped to you.

If you order one now, Apple won't charge you until it ships to you. In the mean time, go ahead and check every day and if you can get one sooner, happy day! If not, then at least you'll eventually get one. Also, after you order, the estimated ship date can slide earlier, as happened on my order now due 29 April - 16 May. Cancelling the order is easy to do if you get lucky and nab one locally.

Just a suggestion.

...or maybe wait and see what the Mac Pro that is expected to be announced at the WWDC in June is about... but that is probably a late year delivery.

Sounds like a good solution. My only gripe is the price. There are cheaper ones on the market. OWC stuff is Hella marked up.
