Default MIDI Clock vs. MIDI Time Code

Could someone please explain the diff in laymans terms, and explain which LE uses (or if it uses both).

My keyboards seem to want MIDI Clock in order to sync their onboard arpeggiators/sequencers, but I'm not sure how (or if) LE can output this, etc.

Thanks.

Default Re: MIDI Clock vs. MIDI Time Code

OK lets see how my memory is...

MIDI clock is a tempo referenced signal at 24 pulses per quarternote. It includes start, stop, continue. Use this for Drum Machines etc.

MIDI time code is a scaled down version of SMPTE time code that runs over MIDI cables instead of audio. It is Time specific not tempo. Good for linking recorders etc.

Note. If two devices are synced via MIDI clock they will both run at the tempo of the master. If they are synced with MTC there is no tempo link.

Judgeing from the statements in your post I think that MIDI clock is what you would be best to use. And yes I believe that 001 transmits this (but I havent checked)

Hope this helps

Default Re: MIDI Clock vs. MIDI Time Code

you have it in PT , i use it with my 303 & the prophecy , its working quite well
minus the gap it gets when your on a loop . . .then it gets out of sync

go to midi menu & choose midi beat clock ( i think ) choose your midi output and check the active box

good luck
