What's the absolute best cpu and motherboard?

Hi, What's the absolute best motherboard and cpu I can get for my digi 001. I want the fastest system I can get. Please no speculation. I would like to hear from the digidesign savvy computer nerds who know their stuff and know what makes a pc a Porche. Thanks

The fastest currently available Athlon CPU is the 2600. No one (to the best of my knowledge) has used one with a PT system yet. I have a 2400, and while it's fast, it's not performing as well with my Digi 002 as I had hoped. Others are getting EXCELLENT results with a Digi 001 and this same CPU with the same mobo I'm using (Asus A7V333).

The new Athlon XP 2700 / 2800's should be out in the not TOO distant future... I've heard anything from late November (unlikely) to sometime in January (more probable).

My suggestion is that you check out the "PT Performance" thread, and Allen's excellent "Best system for under $900" thread for performance benchmarks and component recomendations.
