Tracks in list not appearing in edit window

I know this is going to be so simple but it's got me stumped.
I select a track in the track list of the mix window or edit window and it will only show up in the mix window and not the edit window.
Huh?
But check this...........it's only the last 4 tracks in the list (stereo audio tracks)

They just won't display in the edit window at all!
Furthermore, if I select "show all tracks" then those 4 are still missing from the edit window.

So why not move those tracks up the list you ask?
Because they still don't show up.
And strangely enough they were showing up yesterday and not today.

Those 4 tracks have been banished.
Trashed Data Bases. No difference.
So before I trash my preferences (and lose my settings) is there something I have overlooked?
I have scoured the preferences and can find nothing.

It's a mystery!

Use this app to save/back-up your prefs before trying to delete them etc.

Try start new session and use import session data?
