Default neo assertion errors help

I opened a new track to record electric guitar, it would record but no data would appear. Then the sytem would not allow me to stop with the space bar or with mouse control. I had to quit protools, and even that had trouble. This happend four or five times.

I might have my workspace allocation setting wrong. I am running a external hard-drive firwire. I am using both the mac and the external hard-drive.

Confused about the A and the V, and which one should be set to record and playback in the workspace.

the error reads

Could not complete request because
Neo assertion in /volumes/development/vb cliff/enviornments/alone/../../../../source/(neostreamable.cpp line 2247

any ideas?

There's a little section in the "General Troubleshooting" thread about deleting Database and Volume files - check that out and it should get rid of the message.

As far as the drives go, you should record all your session data to the external, avoid tracking to your Mac HD if possible. Any drive you want to record to should be set as 'R' in the workspace.

externall should be set to R only

OS X Setup and General Troubleshooting

Databases and Volumes

This step can be useful when receiving random 'assertion' or 'neoaccess' errors, especially when recording or saving.

-Delete the Digidesign Databases folders on the first level of all mounted hard drives, then delete the "Volumes" folder in MacHD > Library > Application Support > Digidesign > Databases.

-Empty trash, then restart the computer.

"first level of all mounted hard drives"?

I am running LE with Mbox 2 MINI with a MacBook and A Lacie External.
I might have posted in the wrong section.

Will the same advice apply?

k
so im using Pro Tools LE 7.3 with Mac OS X or whatever its called, and im having the same problem as the guy who posted about having start up issues. everything was working well when i first was using the software, however after about 5 or 6 days into using it, i began to get this error message, i am not sure what the error message is because about 3 three seconds after the message is displayed Pro Tools shuts down and gives me the "relaunch or send error report to apple" window.
i have tried the uninstall and install again route, and that did not work...so...how do i resolve this issue...itd be nice to be able to get back into recording

Trash Prefs/Databases as discussed above. If that doesn't work, post back with full system details.
