Default Two Files "L" and "R" when bouncing to disk?

Mac mini OSX 10.8, PT 10.3.5, i7Ghz quad core, 8gbz RAM, 2 TB-HDs, Mbox pro 3

Basically when finished with a session and want to bounce it to one single file, it actually bounces as two files. One left and One right, and you cant hear the vocals.

I tried it bouncing to an mp3... trying it right now as a quicktime and then a .wav if that doesn't work.

Other than that i cannot figure out how to mix it down to one singular file. I've never had this problem in PT 8

Pro Tools is doing exactly what you are telling it to do. In the bounce dialog you need to pick interleaved not multi-mono format. The documentation explains all this clearly.

You can't hear vocals probably because you have not selected the vocals track to include in the bounce. What is the bounce source set to and is the vocal track(s) routed to that source? And the level set correctly?

Again, reading the reference guide will explain all this.

Wow, if you've bounced in other versions (selecting your desired output file, etc.) and just not with your current one I really wouldn't have a clue to the cause.

That being said you could route all the audio in your session to a stereo audio track, record it, then export that file from the region bin.

Huh? No just learn what all the options do and use bounce as it is intended to be. The settings likely just happened to work before for him. This bounce output stuff is common point of problems/confusion.

It's very frustrating to waste time trying to solve problems, and often things (like these options) are staring us in the face. I'm just trying to get you pointed in the best direction in the quickest time.

The PDF manuals are very handy to search for quick answers (but you often need to know the magic term to search for). I find having them on an iPad is very handy.

If it is sill not working, explain your tracks/routing and maybe include a screenshot here of your mix window and the bounce dialog window.

Darryl, figured it out.

I had to choose interleaved, and works for any kind of bounce that I put out, which I only tested with .wav and .mp3 because those are the only I'll mostly be working with.

Thanks for the insight!

Knowing that magic term can be real pain in the tookus! I've often come up empty on something that actually is in the manual, but I can't find it because I wasn't using the exact correct word in my searches. That's a real drawback with the manual IMO.
