Default This is JUST what we NEED! NOT!!! Pro Tools Essential and Structure Essential

I'm really surprised there isn't a dozen threads on this, maybe there is?

You get over 5 GB of instruments and loops, 60 virtual instrument sounds, reverb / chorus / delay / flanger / phaser / compression / EQ effects, reasonable track counts (16 audio, 8 instrument, 8 MIDI), 3 insert slots per track for “up to 3 simultaneous effects,” buses and send/return routing, and 2 simultaneous audio inputs and outputs.
This is so LAME!

Pro Tools LE/M-P is already criticized for being so crippled, so AVID thinks it's a good idea to strip it down further?

Do we really need 4 versions of Structure?

Just a desperate grab at a new market?

Again AVID makes a move in the wrong direction.

At first I thought "what the?".... there are alot of bottom feeder devices bundled Cubase LE is 48 tracks and there are gobs of VST VI's to be used for free...

But I started to think of the target audience of the advertised price range and tool set...

Kids... I know of at least 3 kids that want, but cannot afford to get into LE. $99 is in that price range that a parent can afford for a birthday present or Christmas present. I can also envision an upgrade path for when kids or other neophytes might need to graduate to a more advanced version.

I might even get one for my old old laptop for long drives or camping :)

And kind of disturbing...

I find it interesting that there is nothing announced on the Digi homepage..

Do they know that this will probably make lots of existing users queasy for some subconscious reasons?

What I really want to know is:

Will they get their own DUC???

Its essentially a version of Pro Tools thats bundled for what appears to be free with some entry level MAudio interfaces. I'm saying free since it would appear that the Vocal bundle and the Keyboard bundle are priced the same as the Nova and the Keystation49. The recording bundle is apparently using the Fastrack USB interface so its software bundle is free also..... Remember that MPowered is 249.00 on top of an interface so if they are including this at no cost whats not to like?

Note: Does not require an iLok

Kinda like the old PT Free was meant to be a trial product.
