Intel 8 core and playback buffer-6086 !!!! Help
Hiya
Apple have just replaced my G5 Quad with an 8 core intel after 18 months of kernel panics and 4 visits to the repair shop. I'm running the following but getting loads of niggling problems: Intel 3 Ghz 8 Core, 8 gb RAM, Two int SATA drives. (one 500Gb which i record onto) PT LE 7.1.1, latest CS updates. MPT, various plug in bundles, fairchild, Pultec, joe meek etc reason 3.0.5. Hardware is a 002 rack and a C|8. The 002 has had the PSU harness replaced, the C|8 has had the control pots / headphone replaced. Both units have been serviced. I've made sure i've updated all my plugs and the MPT, I have the latest CS updates installed. I'm getting playback errors at 1024samples !!? in play back as well as record I have a session with 5 mono audio tracks. They are 2 acc guitar, two vox and a bass. The Bass and two guitar have the compression CB 4 as a plug in, the bass also has a sans amp. One guitar has the analog channel. These are all inserts. I have an aux with an insert TL space verb, with sends to the vox and guitars. An aux with a click plug in and two other aux driving channels 1/2 + 3/4 of the reason hardware interface. My reason session has reason drum kits and abbey road keyboards running drums and piano respectively. The Abbey Road keyboards are 16bit and the drums are 24bit Is this too much? Shoud i be getting playback errors at 1024 Samples. My DAE is set to 1024, 8 CPU's at 80%. Level 2 default. It happens in pretty much every session i do. Generally, i'll have reason a rewire slave a bunch of audio tracks and a few sends for verb , a click and a few midi instr from reason. When my old machine WAS working i could run 36 tracks no problem with the same level of inserts and aux, sometimes even at 512. It would then kernel like a Mofo, Apple sorted that by swapping the computer. WTF is going on. I'm also getting comminication errors with my 002r if left idle for a few moments. Apple and digi have been the bain of my life for the past 18 months what with my every piece of my hardware either being replaced or sent for repair. The OS is 10.4.10. I know it's not qualified, but that's what it shipped with. Also i'm getting pops and cracks on my stand alone core audio apps. Itunes, Reason (when not in rewire). That's the core audio driver just to p155 me off even more.. So any clues? Digi..? Apple? You guys shoudl talk on the telephone more. I've also been getting problems with TL space verb. Sometimes, say i open up a new session, set it up as above. On occassion when i reopen it a few days later i get huge feedback from the aux channel, as i try to open up the TL space verb, i get the spinning beach ball of death and have to quit PT LE. I then have to open it up again and drop the insert. No if i've tweaked the verb on th eaux, if this happens and i don't save the new verb setting. I've lost the verb i've tweaked. Any clues people, i'm gong nuts here Stuart
