Default Recovering cleared/deleted files

Argh.

I was working too fast and accidentally selected some regions in the audio list and deleted them via the clear selected files command. Then I realized I didn't want to delete them. I haven't changed anything sense. Is there anyway to recover the files, or are they gone? Oh, and I don't have the auto-backup enabled, so no reverting...

Thanks.

Did you just CLEAR them, or DELETE them?

If cleared, you should be able to import them into the list again. If deleted, they are gone.

Deleted, unfortunately.

Was hoping maybe they were still in a cache or something, since I haven't shut the program down or changed anything since. But it sounds like I'm SOL.

Thanks.

If it's really important you can use GetDataBack, it's a very effective file recovery program.

Try PC Inspector File Recovery

Good luck.

..and backup your data in the future.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Luckily, I was fairly easily able to get it re-recorded.

I did go enable auto backups in PT.

Auto-backups won't help if you delete the audio files.

You should have a backup regimen which means every night you make a safety copy of you session to another location.

Auto backups won't help? It's set to backup every five minutes and keep the last 10. Hypothetically, couldn't I just revert to the one five minutes ago?

I do use a backup scheme - I do an automatic backup to another drive every four hours. Used to just backup nightly, but got burned once by a drive failure.

Since my recording and deleting all happened within about 45 minutes, even the four hour backup wouldn't have saved me. But I'm thinking the autobackup would've stood a chance? Please correct me if my logic is wrong!

Thanks again.

Auto-Backup just saves the session file.. it couldn't make safety copies of all new audio every x minutes... it would slow the program down. If you delete the audio files.. they're gone unless you can recover them with a recovery tool.
