Default A note for Ivory 1.7 users on Win7 64

If your using Ivory on Win7 64 you will find that the latest updater that Synthology lists for Windows (1.72) will not install on Win7 64. You will get a message stating that "The operating system is not supported" and the installer will come to a halt. No amount of cajoling in compatility mode will get it to install either.

The solution is to copy over the Ivory.dpm and Ivory.dpm.rsr from a working version 1.72 PT system and drop them into the plug ins folder.

Seems to work like a charm.

Synthogys Vista64bit VST installer works just fine. I also updated to the VST version if that is a factor.

Hopefully some one finds this info useful.

Could also feedback from other folks that this is working for them.

Yes!!!
I had installed Ivory (1, not 2; I have only the original Grand Pianos, not Italian or Upright) VST on my W7x64, and the RTAS installer would not even run. Grabbed archived dpm/rsr files from a DVD backup from the XP days, worked perfectly!!! Thx Hobo Wan Kenobi, you were my only hope!

I believe I posted this workaround a month or so ago in this thread over in the LE on windows section:

"You could try running Ivory as a 32-bit plug-in, but the 32-bit RTAS updater does not seem to run in a 64-bit operating system. So, I will provide a work-around for you, including some files that you can place manually, to byass the installer. These will be the (32-bit) component files that ProTools needs for Ivory.

Here is the link to download the files:
http://synthogy.com/download/Ivory-R...32-1_72_00.zip
Download the zipped folder, unzip it, and drag the two files "Ivory.dpm" and "Ivory.dpm.rsr" into this folder: \Program Files\Common Files\Digidesign\DAE\Plugins

Or, you may find you need to use this folder location instead:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Digidesign\DAE\Plugins"
I would imagine this wouldn't have been easy to find though, given the title of the thread didn't make much mention of Ivory. The download link is still active for anyone who may require the files. Good job on getting the word out there sunburst

Ahhh!!! So Synthogy DID come through, we just were not aware of it.. and they may have done a fail in regard to responding to direct communication attempts this time?

Regardless.. VERY cool to have that link!!

I was unaware of that. Good work. I did a quick search but didn't turn anything up. I figured that with a lot of folks moving to Win7 64 and PT9 that a thread in the Virtual Instruments sections might attract some attention for those seeking answers

Ya have to cut me some slack-I took a couple of months off from the DUC

Have you found any issues?. Seems fine here. I sent Synthogy Support a email describing the problem and the workaround but with Ivory II out I'm figuring it will go unadressed.

Same workaround we did.

All its really telling us is that they've know about it for about a year and haven't updated the installer.

Well i only had a brief chance to test it a year ago on my old pc, which it turns out (with my more recently aquired knowledge of such things) was not exactly a PT friendly build, but it seemed to work fine from what I remember. I've got another couple of exams for uni today and thursday, but give me a couple of days and I should be able to test it all out on my new i7 rig once I'm done with study etc. I also have Ivory 2, so i'll give that a whirl while I'm at it and report back with my findings either over the weekend or early next week, depending when i get the time to mess around with it.
