Default alternate playlists

Was just trying loop recording to create alternate playlists. I was doing the song a section at a time. I got no, or at least am not finding the alternate takes I did on any sections after the first. What am I doing wrong?

Setup>preferences>operation>"automatically create new playlists when loop recording"

OR

From the manual:
Quote:
If the Automatically Create New Playlists When Loop Recording option was disabled before you started loop recording, Right- click the region in the main playlist and choose Matches > Expand Alternates to New Playlists.

Thanks for quick reply. I've got create new playlists selected; I selected the section for first verse, did several takes. stopped. then selected next verse section, did several takes, stopped, And continued for several more sections. Is this the right way, or is there some reason it won't create new playlists in more than one section of a track? (BTW, I'll go ahead and ask a question I've been too embarassed for long tim- I don't have the manual- some reason didn't get it/lost it during some switch/upgrade or another. How do I get it?)

Hmm not sure why it's not working then..

The reference guide is installed with the software:

<Mac HD>/Applications/Digidesign/Documentation/ProTools/

At least it should be in there.

If not, try downloading here

Maybe try reading through the instructions there to see if something is amiss.. For example "Link Timeline and edit selection" should be enabled..

Ha! Never mind, found em. Another silly problem solved if keep looking before posting. Didn't scroll down far enough- subsequent sections amount to additional play lists- was expecting to see them on same line.
