Default Which OS is working best for you all?

Hey all - I'm on a Mac Pro Trashcan and have been running High Sierra for a while because Pro Tools has been more or less stable. I'm thinking about updating since High Sierra is officially not supported but I'm wondering what to go up to? Just Mojave? Have people gone through this process and found that PT is working best with a certain version of the OS? I know video issues have been finicky and that's why I've stayed on High Sierra. Is one of the recent OS's better than the others.

I know everyone's experience will very due to hardware, computer, plug-in's etc... but curious of antidotal experience and if there's a consensus around here. Thanks for your help!

Just a couple of thoughts; I guess the trashcans have no problem with Metal compatibility... I've been thru all of them except Mohave, Catalina is my choice. It's stable and feels snappy, and I love how it handles multiple displays. Big Sur didn't do much for me, mostly bling.

I'm kinda the opposite. I've kept my hackintosh on Mojave because it's my "legacy" system, and I have a few 32-bit things I still run occasionally. And PT is really stable on that for me.

Skipped Catalina entirely.

But I just picked up an M1 Macbook Air, and Big Sur has some nice tweaks. In very limited testing (and reading others' experiences on here), Pro Tools is medium-stable. So still using my Mojave system for real audio work.

So far, so good on Catalina (post) and Windows 10 (composing).

At this point, Catalina seems to be the most stable and best performer with Protools 2021.3.1, however you don't get the feature set and bug fixes of Protools 2021.6. Unfortunately we are hearing many reports of GUI issues with Big Sur and Protools 2021.6.

Clean install of latest Catalina seems to be the sweet spot for a trashcan. No reason to go to Big Sur or later places because they are developed with Apple Silicon in mind. But with Catalina things run so much nicer than Mojave.
