 Audiomedia driver for windows 2000/XP
I'd like to have a driver for this os: win XP or win 2000... I have protools LE XP 5.1 but I don't use use it (don't like it! I'm using samplitude 6), but I like the audiomedia III card... So I just need a wave driver. Please make one quickly, instead of I must buy another card, and I think that it will NOT be a digidesign product... You can send me a beta version, I can be a beta tester... thanx for the response...

Re:  Audiomedia driver for windows 2000/XP
bozo,
Go out and buy another card/software and then post on that manufacturer's board about the features that you would like to have released immediately for your convenience. I'll bet that alot of those features will be things that are already included in PTLE. Here is the deal with PTLE: take it or leave it! For the Windows platform, PTLE is obviously still a work in progress and it is still better than anything else that I have used for recording. I don't mean to offend you or anyone else but there are only so many threats to Digidesign and whining that I can take. Good luck with whatever you choose over Protools, but it won't be as good as Protools. Marc |

Re:  Audiomedia driver for windows 2000/XP
I don't want to have a conflict with ptle users... I like working on PT tdm platforms, but don't like ptle... that's all (24 tracks, poor performance...)... I like my audiomedia III card an just want to use it with win XP or 2000...

Re:  Audiomedia driver for windows 2000/XP
Assuming digi plans on continuing to sell the AM3, it's pretty likely they'll have XP drivers someday (although who knows how long it may take).

Boomish,
No I don't work for Digi. Do you have a Digi001? If you do, sell it and run Cubase. If you are running Cubase and PTLE, drop PTLE and stick with only running Cubase. Why would you have purchased a product from a company that according to you is unprofessional anyway? I think it's alittle naive to expect equality between platforms when Digidesign has been working with MAC for a couple of decades and PC for only a few years. Things will balance out eventually but it takes time. XP would be nice but it's not going to impove the quality of my recordings. If I finish recording a song and it sounds like crap I don't say, 'Damn, this song would have sounded great if I had been running XP'. We are all entitled to our opinion and I've given mine. |

As a systems specialist that KNOWS that Microsoft will officially end support for Win98 by the end of this year, "Digi-de-lie" had years to come up with a windows NT/2000 version of PTLE. Sure you can tell someone to pack it up and get the hell out of here but I wonder, specially in this economic climate if that would be the wise thing to do??? Let's put it this way, for every one that got the message that Digi is not going to respond to the Customer, they switch to a ASIO driven world .. . and they never come back . .ever. You can never regain their trust. Specially after they see how well the ASIO/WDM vendors respond with constant Updated Drivers & Patches for their already stable software/hardware offerings. It's really sad to see a Pioneer Company like Digi loose sight of the big opportunites in the windows market. Digi can be smug & smirk of they want to but for every Digi001 that's not sold, there's a loss in profit & market share. Oh yeah one last thing, how will you expect a poential customer buy into Digi's half a million dollar studio systems if they don't take care of of the users who have the $2,500 studio Systems?????? Chew on that for a while . . . . . . |

Re:  Audiomedia driver for windows 2000/XP
Ok, I'm a nit picker... I paid $750 for my 001. The cost of the computer is not included in most references to TDM, It shouldn't be for the 001, either.
BTW, I put together my Digi 'puter for $500. That makes $1250 total, if you insist... The cost of a 8 track cassette 8 years ago. I know it's futile to try and change your mind, but I consider my investment an amazing value. It's a great package that I use 99% troublefree everyday, to express myself and make $$$$. Thanks Digidesign. I wish my last 24 track 2 inch machine was this troublefree. <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:<HR>Originally posted by Juanito: Oh yeah one last thing, how will you expect a poential customer buy into Digi's half a million dollar studio systems if they don't take care of of the users who have the $2,500 studio Systems?????? XP (or Win2k) drivers are IMHO more than nice. Win9x is buggy, always has been, always will be. It constantly crashes compared to the NT core. I have actually had a customer right in front of the screen going through a mix and the system dumped twice within 30 minutes (ran the other 8 hours of the session flawlessly). Do I blame the crash on Digi, No, its not theyre fault. Its Microsofts fault. However, M$ has released current operating systems that are much more stable and what is Digidesigns fault is waiting so long to let us move to current operating systems (I do not really care what their motivation to wait is, it is just wrong and an injustice to its customers).
