Default XMON Cable

Hi there,
I wonder if anyone out there has made their own cable for connecting a D_Command to an XMON; I need to make a cable that is about 35m long. Having looked at the article in the support section and also the diagram in the XMON documentation, I find there is a discrepancy in that the latter indicates that two pairs of wires are necessary for MIDI in and out, whereas in the former, there is no mention of MIDI. The article in the knowledge base suggests the use of Belden 9505 which has 5 pairs - as I see it, this is not enough if I need to allow for MIDI as well. Would I need to opt for the 7-pair version (9507)? Otherwise I was thinking along the lines of using CAT6 for the data and multipair audio cable for the mic and headphone feeds. Any suggestions gratefully accepted, especially with regards to cable length.

I just rolled a 55ft. cable with the Beldon 9505
it's working well so far, even did a firmware update over it
but I'm using it for just Main to Headphones

Thanks for your reply - did you need to connect the MIDI input and output on pins 12,4,11 and 3 and if so, which pins did you have to omit?
All the best,
shed man.

the 9505 is only 5 pr. so I skipped 12,4 and 11,3 paris
It's an older blue face xmon
the newer gray ones may need the MIDI for the S5-MC

O.K. - I'll check to see which one we've got.
Thanks again,

I found what I needed here :

http://absolutecad.typepad.com/over_...s/tips-tricks/

Rather than using the internal mic on the D-Command, which I assume is dynamic (if it can be fed through a transformer) as well as being unbalanced, I intend to use an external electret gooseneck-type which has a balanced output and route it via a separate microphone cable to the external talkback mic input on the XMON (the XMON supplies the 18v necessary for powering the mic).

Hope this helps anyone else in my situation.
Shed man.
