Have had the same problem. Thanks to ALL of you who have contributed to this post, it was a big help!

I was able to solve it by re-installing the 10.4.9 Combo update, and am having no problems with QT 7.2 I hit this launch problem after installing the security update to 10.4.10, as was previously mentioned.

I have two laptops, a MacBookPro at 2.66G, running 10.4.9 Combo AND a G4 1.65 running 10.4.10 Combo, and now each are able to run 7.3.1 without a hitch.

Digi's website says that 10.4.9 is supported, the message on their tech supt line says it's not! But near as I can tell, either OS is good if you steer clear of the security updates.

so, yeah, same problem, which isn't cool, b/c i can't find my auth. code, b/c i installed it so long ago.
i'm kinda new to PT.
does this "not loading" thing happen often?
i dont know if this is the place, but what do i do if i lost my auth. code? great.

okay, found the orignal 7.3 packet, 5x8 carboard envelop w/ sticker in the lower right hand corner that reads: PRO TOOLS LE v7.3 DVD MAILER, then a "xxxx-xxxxx-00" cide underneath, is this my Auth. code?

I just got a new Macbook Pro today and I cannot get the extra drive to be recognized, keep getting "not valid audio file" .
Ditched Quicktime,still no go, I transferred all of my info from my old Powerbook G$ and it says that all files from the transfer are not valid either.Why is this even a problem.
I'm cashed, tomorrow......

Are you sure you are not getting an error that that the drive is not valid?

As far as the other problems mentioned in this thread, most can be resolved from the information on the Compatibility link at the top of the forum.

There are links there to Apple's information on launch problems after installing QuickTime 7.2, and a link to the PACE pre-binding script that usually solves the problem after installing recent Apple updates.
