Default Finalizer settings.....

If I have my Finalizer+ connected digitally via AES/EBU and use it as an insert on my master fader in PT. Should I have the clock set to internal or external? I tried both and think it sounds a little bit better with it set to internal 44.1. But after talking to some other people in the business they said it should be set to external. Is there any right or wrong with this?

Someone's opinion on this matter would make me very greatful since this is a important thing

Thanks in advance!

AES "DI" (digital input) should do you fine AES transmits clock, USE AES cables, not mic cables!!!!!!

Jules...

I use 110ohm AES/EBU cables. But the strange thing is that is sounds, in my opinion, a little little better when set to internal in the Finalizer....Strange

Rocco..

I'ts like Jules is saying...AES is transmitting clock meaning that you don't need any other.

You should definatley set your Finalizer to sync to the AES input, or to word clock if that's available. You will eventually get clicks and pops in your signal if you try to let the Finalizer run "wild" by running off its internal clock.

I purchased the 96K as well and had the same questions. Give this guy a call at TC (Jim Bellamy (805)373-1828).

They have a PT MIX + system with the 96K. He can give you some good advice on making the most of the box.

I connected the 96k via AES to one of my 888's and works fine, using 110 ohm cable. I'm also connecting it to word clock fron USD using 75 ohm cable in case I need external reference for sample rate conversion.
