PT9 HD - Can anyone confirm Auth/Ilok PT8 license?

Still need to run 8 so just wondering on the ILOK asset front what appears and disappears from there. Previously you've given up licenses on upgrades. so.

do you get a PT9 auth and keep 8?
do you get a PT9 backup auth (2nd authorisation)

I had to surrender my PT8 licence when I crossgraded to PT9.

I assume if you buy the full version you can keep both... ? Assumption is the mother of all f*ckups though!

So if I upgrade to 9 I cannot use the old version anymore and my tracking-ws (2xG5) is getting useless ? That sucks...

I would imagine the ilok 9 auth will also auth pro tools 8

S**t will hit the fan if it doesn't

Steve, did you get a backup licence in your ilok account as well (ie one you can move to a second ilok)? Has anyone tried running 8 with the 9 authorisation yet (i'm guessing this won't go as previously this hasn't been the case)

Here's some info after I took the plunge

Ordered HD9 upgrade - uk 293£

completed checkout then asked for

ilok id and core card serial - make sure you get this right as otherwise no dice!

INTERESTING BIT - if you have multiple old HD licenses you get a choice which to redeem for the upgrade - goodbye PT 7 license!

go to ILOK see it says surrender PT7 under details

go to transfer on main studio ilok - oh dear, its says

Digidesign 8HD
Will be queued since another license with greater weight is in the way.

Looks like it removes 8 and replaces it with 8 in the pt9 bundle (there are 2 pt9 licenses and one HD8 - presumably one is the HD element?) - anyway you can't move one license separately to another ilok so you are only getting the one auth here. I've moved it onto a clean ilok, i don't want to risk anything mid session with 8 i'm running

Now to try it out.....

I just ordered the HD upgrade by mistake. I don't want to get that yet. Hope they can cancel the order.

I wanted to upgrade the LE 7.3 version instead.

Question is, if I ONLY update the LE 7.3, will the same license also work on the HD?

And if 7 or 8 came with a backup license, does upgrading to 9 take back just one of those licenses (meaning you could have it remove an 8 authorization but still have an 8 authorization remaining on a different iLok)?

No, the LE to pro tools 9 upgrade will not run HD

It must somehow leave you with the ability to run previous version of PT, either PT9 will also auth PT 8 or it will allow you to keep one PT8 or PT7 auth on your ilok. Would be good to know exactly!!!
