Default HD upgrades and crossgrades

Hello!

I'm currently planning to trade in a 003 Rack for a HD Core1 for my MacPro with that new excellent deal. I've been using the 003 Rack as my system in a small temporary studio here, and have a HD Core 1 (PCI-X) in my main studio.

I hope to have my temporary studio running here while the main studio is going through some overhaul, so my question is: eventually I'll be bringing my new HD core PCIe system on my macpro back to the main studio and using that as my central system. I really will only have a need for one, so my issue is is that I'd like to crossgrade the old PCI-X HD Core1 as the machine's getting old and it's a great system, but crossgrading to a HD core1 PCIe is useless to me since I won't have any need for 2 HD Core1 systems in the same studio.

Is it possible to crossgrade to an accel or some other solution so that I can end up with a HD2 System when it's all said and done?

Thanks!

You CAN use 2 core cards in one system.

Wonderful news... thanks for the reply!
So I take it it works like my current HD core 1 system except I have 2x as many DSP banks?

You can buy brand new systems for less than the upgrade prices that Digi is selling them for.

My nearby reseller is quoting me 4500 to go from 003 Rack to HD Accel Core 1 with a free 96, and my crossgrade from PCI-X HD Core 1 to PCIe HD Accel Core 1's under 1500.

Prices I've seen for a new PCIe Core 1 system with interface is more than both of those combined... unless I"m missing something? I do a lot of ebay, but not high end hardware like this as I can't afford to run into unexpected hardware failures and not be under warranty.
