Default mbox 2: high pitched noise on line inputs

mbox 2: high pitched noise on line inputs

hi guys, whenever i record something using my mbox 2, there is this very high frequency squeal i guess and it's terrible. It ruins my recordings. It happenened most recently with a recording a yamaha s-90es keyboard using the analog out, and then when recording with my pocket pod. Anyone else experience something like this?

I appreciate the help peoples

Christian

I'm having this same problem with my Focusrite Voice Master (reason why I don't use it). I've searched around the forum to find a solution and haven't found one yet. I've read the support page and it wasn't to helpful for right now. Has anyone figured this out? If so let me know. Thanks.

These boxes are inexpensive - that's why we buy them - and we can't expect perfect grounding from cheap boxes. There's a lot of voodo on this and other forums about which USB cable to use, extra software, etc. Try running the MBox2 through direct boxes first! The transformers isolate and convert to a balanced signal, and after that it sounds great.

I have one of the whiny MBox2 units. Changing cables, removing the USB hub, and all the other tricks didn't help. The DI's fixed it right away, and it's crystal clear and problem free now.

I'm not completely understanding. Could you explain in a different way?

Jezza

A musiciansfriend or sweetwater link to your DI box might help explain your setup better.
