virtual drum machine

If you got Reason Adapted with your Digi hardware, you could use that (Redrum).

I do have Reason, I was hoping to pick up something simpler - just basic percussion. Thanks for the tip though.

A simple drum machine might be a better choice though if all you want is a beat. I practice all the time to an Alesis SR-16. I'd look into one of those or a Boss.

Damm right J ;-) my 18 year old RX-5 still beats the pencil tool at any time ;-), Always wanted one of those SR-16 too, but i never comes to it ;-)

Thanks for the tips. I've avoided an external drum machine because I don't want to add any more "gear" to the growing assemblage, but I might pick something up.

As stated before, if you have Reason adapted you wont need anything more if you need a basic drum machine. In fact, you can do almost anything with the as you can load any samples and you can even convert Akai disks and stuff...

If you want drums that really sounds "real" you can't go wrng with the Fxpansion BFD. I actually also use Battery a lot, it is really somewhere between both but it is much more flexible and you can achieve some pretty realistic results with the multilayer samples.
