Hello

Could someone please tel me how to make the waveform bigger.

When I record guitar, the waveform shows a tiny dots.

If I open the track wider,it dosen't make it much better.

Thanks

Alan

Record with input gain louder to have a better level of waveform or if you just want to see it use the Command+Option+] key combination to adjust the waveform's size view.

When you record, have your meters in Pre-fade and adjust GAIN so the meters hit into the yellow.

And albee means gain at the source, not the faders within Pro Tools as they only control the monitor level when recording.

Cheers,

alan, upper left of your edit window there is a way to make the midi notes and the audio waveforms larger or smaller ... up near the grid, slip, shuffle, spot mode buttons ...

it is very disconcerting that more people do not know the simplest things in PT ... the manual is your friend ... buy your friend a beer and crack that puppy open ... you will not regret it ...

the other folks have covered how to get your input gain up ... all good advise

cheers

john

Cheers,
Yes yes, which is why I keep my meters showing Pre-Fader levels. I want to record at proper levels, while I mix with my ears (not meters). The only time I will select Post-Fader is to balance a bunch of similar tracks, like BGV's or a string section.

I'm for sure the nerd that reads manuals from start to end. But one thing I have not figured out is:
How do I reset waveforms to normal?

In the menu bar right to the right of the grid relative grid slip mode function buttons

There are two grey buttons that have up and down arrows below them one shows an audio waveform the other shows midi notes

Click the one that shows the audio waveform up and you will see all the audio waveforms on your screen considering you're in edit screen all of those will make the waveforms bigger

cntrl option cmd [
resets waveform-height and nothing else

option a
resets wave-height AND horizontal zoom

cntrl option a
resets horizontal zoom and remains the current waveform-height
