Default newbie question about Mbox, recording, and MIDI

Here's my totally uninformed, naive, blatantly silly question, from someone totally new to Pro Tools, MIDI, etc. :

I want to use Pro Tools LE with the M box. I want to record to my hard drive, playing my electric instrument (such as electric guitar or something, not a MIDI instruent) plugged into the Mbox. I then want to change the sound of the guitar I've just recorded, so it sounds more like, say, a violin.

Is this doable?

Mac OSX - G4 800.

Thanks so much

PLUG-INS! you can alter the sound beyond belief by just tweaking one plug-in, or you can chain a bunch of them together (or do multiple passes with audio suite processing to lighten the load on your CPU).

one of my favorites is to time compress and expand a region several times in a row without undoing the previous compressions/expansions, then processing with chorus, reverb, etc. wicked! twisted!
