Default Pro Tools 2021.3 and 003 Family 11.1.5 Driver

Is anyone successfully running Pro Tools 2021.3 and 003 Family 11.1.5 Driver with 002 Rack and Mojave 10.14.6?

Thanks in advance for your time to answer.

Default Pro Tools 2021.3 and 003 Family 11.1.5 Driver

I know the pain of no one responding to a question here... ;-)

I had successfully run a Digi 003 Rack (not 002) with the 003 Family driver and Mojave 10.14.6 for well over a year.

I did get occasional-6101 errors, though. Not showstoppers, but annoying. And those DISAPPEARED when I dumped the 003 Rack and deleted the driver in favor of a Focusrite unit. YMMV.

Could’ve been the driver...could’ve been something in the 3 adapters I had to use to get the 003R connected to TB3. Can’t say for sure.

Sorry I cannot answer your question. Support for the 003 sadly went a way a long time ago. When I had mine (for 13 years) I ran it with a 2007 iMac, Lion running 10.7.5 and Pro Tools 10.3.

I knew when I decided to upgrade, everything was going to have to be upgraded, a full tech-refresh. New iMac, new interface, and new PT Software.

On my old system I had to make a decision on trade-offs. One was update the 003 driver to gain the support of the Agg I/O, meaning I could play iTunes without having to close Pro Tools. However with that I lost Low Latency Monitoring. I chose the LLM over having to shut down PT to listen to a reference track, You Tube etc...

That's why after 13 years, I felt I got my money's worth out of the old system and time to refresh. Glad I did. IMO, the UA Apollo pre's sound 10x better than the pre's in the 003. But that is just my opinion and not stating that as a fact. Sadly legacy equipment that relies on computer drivers and software just falls off the support grid as technology marches forward. Just the nature of technology.

I have another system that is a new Mac Mini running Mojave 10.14.6, Pro Tools 2021.3 and a Lynx Aurora n32 A/D/A, which works great. I use my old Mac Pro for editing only - no tracking, so I have been trying to limp along my old 002 and it works fine with Pro Tools 2020.9.1. I am wanting to update to Pro Tools 2021.3 but I really don't want to buy another interface for the old system.

Thanks for your reply.

DO NOT upgrade to 2021.3 or 2021.3.1 if you haven’t already. Major bugginess awaits. I just ran back to 2020.12.1, myself.

If your system is solid, stick and stay. IMO.

Agree that if your system is solid to stick and stay, but I wouldn't call 2021.3 buggy at all - I had the exact opposite with my 2013 15" MBP and my 2019 16" MBP. I also did a clean install and installed plugins with the most current installers.
