2022.9 Assertion error line 142

2022.9, Monterey 12.6

Using smart tool, if I click on bottom of a clip (grabber tool) to highlight whole the clip, Midi or audio, and then hold shift and click inside clip at top (selector tool), I get assertion error below

I do this regularly to select a portion of the clip starting at very beginning. In this case grabbing the first hit of a midi clip to fly to end of song.

actually, it seems you just can't shift-click with the selector tool anywhere on the track that the cursor or selection is currently located

Ridiculous bug. A quick workaround is to change ruler to “bars and beats” instead of “time”. Unfortunately I need “time” as my main counter and not as sub counter so this doesn’t work for me. I ended up going back to 2022.7 until they fix this.

No such problems here. I can do what you describe with no Assertion errors.

Thats’s interesting, will play with it but I generally live in bars/beats exclusively so maybe a toggle thing.. for sure gets annoying working around this all day

If this is affecting you and you want a fix please file a support incident for this... get it assigned to a bug. If you have incident or bug numbers post 'em here.

Far too many things get mention here and never even get file as a bug. Avid support seems especially adept at closing incidents before getting a bug assigned.

Hi.. 2022.9 + Monterey 12.5.1, in fact... Updated the sig.

I second Darryl, file a bug with AVID support. Forum is great place for users to discuss and organize issues and work out repro, but the Support Tickets are KEY to AVID's whole QA and development process.

As someone who works as an audio editor and bug tester for a software company, it's just not enough to complain to the wind!!!!
