HDX Sidechain Delay Compensation Broken?
Hi all,
I stepped up to HDX somewhat recently in large part to take advantage of sidechain delay compensation. To my surprise, it doesn’t seem to work very well. I have the option checked in preferences, but I’m still getting audio arriving early/late to sidechain inputs when I monitor them. Is this feature only for DSP plugins? Has anyone else found any “rules” to using sidechain delay compensation properly? Thanks in advance.

Re: HDX Sidechain Delay Compensation Broken?
wondering about this too!!
Can you test with both DSP/Native instances of the same plug-in to see if only AAX dsp's compensate a compressors key input properly? maybe only Avid AAX DSP's do it? this isn't clear on any documentation... |

I'm very curious to hear more details on this. Were you able to test it? Has anyone?

bump... can anyone try a test using the same DSP and non-dsp plugin?

Re: HDX Sidechain Delay Compensation Broken?
Delay comp for side chains is indeed only for DSP plugs

Re: HDX Sidechain Delay Compensation Broken?
So basically what we're saying is AVID can't get it to work for native plugs regardless of architecture. *Slow hand clap*

The fact that it would be slightly more complicated than just adding the "feature" probably doesn't help it's chances of even being implemented. They would have to add a preference to turn it on or off so as to keep compatibility with existing sessions which have side-chain delay accounted for manually. I used to find it a real frustration but I've got so used to the workarounds I don't even care that much anymore. It is the exact sort of incremental improvement I was hoping to start seeing more often when they switched to a subscription model many moons ago. There are so many small details which could be improved upon, I'd much rather a steady incremental development and refinement than flashy new features. |
