Default Re: Auralex or cheaper alternatives????

I'm looking into the same, building an addition which will be a control room / tracking room.
Have you looked into this:
http://www.auralex.com/sound_isolati...ation_mfi.html

I have found some of the same "mineral wool"
for much less. You would have to frame it and wrap w/ cloth. But hey, I'm into that. There are some good resources on the Aualex site about construction too. Another site you may want to chek:
http://owenscorning.com/around/sound/acoustic.html

Hope this is helpful

Sorry 'bout the double-parking.

But the dang CGI script duplicates any URL (back to back) whenever you edit. Making life more of a pain than it already is.

Check out the Manchester House. They have these Hi-frequency cloth tiles that you can use to wallpaper. And some other ready made panels, I've never seen before.

Watch out for 'Urea' foam. If not mixed in perfect conditions (humidity+temp of air)...you smell it.

You know me, the sensitive nose?

Default Auralex or cheaper alternatives????

Guitar Center has the 'super' roominator for 299.00. it has (16)2'x2'x2", some mini diffusers, and some lenrds.\

I need the low frequency absorption and wide band absorbers more than anything. diffusers would be cool too.

Does anyone have any experience with these particular kits? I think this 299.00 kit will probably be enough for maybe half my control room.

what about this stuff....
http ://www.markertek.com/MTStore/Store.cfm?Idx=acoustic+foam&main=product.cfm?BaseI tem=BT2

Control room...
20x24 with carpet and drywall walls.

studio...
studio is L shaped with the I being 20x12 and the L being 12x12
capet floor and drywal walls

dual pane 1/4 in glass (6 foot by 3 foot) sperating the rooms.

basically my whole studio is 40x24 with the control room being half and a 12x12 laundry room shared in the studios 20x24 area.

8 foot ceilings (drywall)
