Playback from session too fast
I recorded a session at 24/44.1 clocking with an outside source (ADAT) and 002r. Thoughout the session everything appeared to be fine until I bounced to disk, after playing the bounce back it was too fast. I went back to the session and it played back to fast.
I rebooted and set the clocking source back to ADAT and tempo was correct. I did another bounce and playback was fast again. I went through the same process of making the ADAT the source and 24/44.1 and now the session is playing back fast. I have done everything suggested in the answerbase with no success. If I can get the session to playback at the correct speed I will mix to dat instead of bouncing but have not been able to get the session to play corectly. I have tracked one other session after the session I'm having trouble with and everything is working fine. Has anyone had these issues? and any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Jim |

Re: Playback from session too fast
Hi Jim -
It sounds like while you were tracking you were clocking to a slower clock than your session. This basically results in the audio files being stamped at the wrong sample rate which is why you were hearing the wrong playback speed after boucing to disk. Do you know what sample rate the ADAT source was set to, and are you sure PT was set to 44.1? Try slaving PT to the ADAT clock again and find the sample rate that results in correct playback. This will tell you what rate the files were actually recorded as opposed to what Pro Tools stamped them as. You can then reimport your original files (through import session data) and force the files to be re-stamped at the correct sample rate, or manually change it in the files themselves. Hope this helps. Jeff

Re: Playback from session too fast
I tried the suggestion from the answer base before posting here and it didn't correct the problem.
Thanks Jim |
