Default Best Transpose Plug in for PT?

Anyone know the best "transpose" plug in for Mac/Protools??

I mean a general Transpose plug in that does the most basic job of pitching audio up and down like a sampler, in semitones - but in the arrange window of logic/protools?

I dont mean any elastique/stretching at same pitch that every DAW does nowadays - I mean a simple plug in to go :

+1,+2, +3 up in pitch and sound gets shorter and higher

-1, -2, -3 down and sound gets lower in pitch and longer/deeper...

This is a bit like Ableton does when the warping is off, and also as Acid Pro does with "one-shot" samples..

I find it easier in the arrange window instead of loading up a sampler.. but Im on the Mac (so no Acid Pro) and want to use in PT

I cant find anything that does this without "warbling/strtching the audio? I have tried Elastic time with Varispeed which has no semitones value, and Serato which didnt do this...

Does waves soundshifter do this? and can it be demo'd?

Again surely this introduces artifacts as its elastique - does this do a simple tape / record deck slow down so i can play tracks at lower pitches with no artifacts ???

Thanks Crizdee

But again I believe all these effect the audio in some way???

By stretching etc.... Surely can a plug in do what ableton/Acid do with one shots where you can musically pitch up down like on a keyboard without artifacts??

Pitch 'n Time Pro does what you need, use its Varispeed Mode. Essentially you adjust the semitones range to be processed and then switch to Varispeed, it then speeds up the audio or slows it down. I use it all the time.

Thanks but the Varispeed mode says its controlled by tempo??

Does it have an independent pitch in varispeed? AND can it audition alongside other audio in the timeline so you can match keys etc?

Sorry i see now - you move the tempo slider at the top to create a pitch change in varispeed...

BUT can you get this slider to show (and snap) to semitones? so i can go -1, -2, -3 etc?

At the minute its a little "free" and you cant pinpoint certain pitches

You could open a separate PT session, set your clock source to Internal/VSO and adjust your pitch with the VSO slider in the Session Setup dialog. That slider uses semitone/cents as its measure. You can record the output of that session to whatever other recording source. If you must have it in the same session, I'd personally recommend Pitch n Time, but most of the mentioned plugs should do the trick.

Any digital process that will affect sound duration or pitch will inevitably have artifacts, even Ableton and Acid. When you play with sample spacing, there's no way around it.
