Default Trimmer tool (is this a bug?)

I've got a session where two of the tracks in an edit group (the orchestra and chorus) run the whole length of the session and two tracks (the soloists) come in and out, with no segments in between. Here's the problem:

If I edit with cut and paste (I'm in shuffle mode here), all the soloist segments stay in sync with the main tracks. If I use any sort of trim, they go everywhere! Sometimes they jump to the edit point (where that track is supposed to be blank at the moment) and sometimes they jump so that they start a bit before the edit point. In either case, they should just have moved a little but they should have stayed in sync with the main tracks!!

I can use Consolidate Selection to create one contiguous file for these tracks, but that makes the session a lot bigger! I'd rather not end up taking up drive and backup space just to make this work.

Am I missing something or is this just broken?

Using the trim tool in shuffle mode will slide the audio data out of sinc but the region start point will remain the same. Try using the trimmer in slip mode?

Also make sure that "Auto Spot Regions" is not checked under the "Operation" menu. This can send regions into the abyss sometimes depending on the mode your in and what their time stamp is.

I've also noticed an issue with locked regions. If I lock a region, the region immediately preceding it will not behave properly to edits. Have you locked any regions?

Just something else to check. (using 5.1.3)

I have discovered a bug that occurs with most OMF files.

If I use the trim tool in trim/scrub mode, it frequently will slip the sync, even if I'm in "slip "mode.

Does this sound like what you have?

BTW, it's been reported.
