Default Headphone Amp With Digi 002 Rack

Hi there folks,

I'm wondering what the best way to wire my new Behringer Ha800 headphone amp would be with Digi 002.

Previously I just had a little stand alone 4 way Headphone Amp but as the Ha800 is rackmountable I want to put it in their and connect everything at the rear to keep it nice and tidy.

I currently run my Speakers through the Monitor Out, should run this signal through the Behringer firsy then to my speakers or use the Main Out's instead? I assume if I use the main outs though the controls on the Digo 002 (ie; Mono, Mute and Level) won't effect the signal going into the headphone amp?

Very grateful for any advice of examples of how other's do it.

Thanks.

Whichever output follows the 002 volume knob should feed your monitors. Use the other set to feed the headphone amp. You want to be able to adjust your monitor volume without messing with the headphone volume(use the knob on the Behringer for that adjustment).

I have a 003R, but maybe this will be of some use...

The 003R has two headphone outs, with headphone 2 switchable to 3/4 out. So, I just feed my headphone amp with 3/4. That way I can adjust/listen to the headphone mix by plugging into headphone 2 on my 003R.

Hopefully this will help some...

Just rockin'...what more is there?

That would be a great option except the 002 doesn't have the extra phones output like the 003. Lots of deals on used 003's out there

I have a 002 with a HA400. I found the easiest solution was to just run a short TRS patch from the headphone out on the 002 to the Main in on the front of the HA400. It's not perfectly tidy but it does the trick.

Just use Main L-1 and Main R-2 if the musicians are sharing the same mix as you. It's independent of the volume knob.

Otherwise you could set up pre-fader sends to physical outputs (say 3+4) and patch outputs 3+4 to the headphone amp. Viewing the sends as faders makes it easier to set up a headphone mix. Only works if Low Latency Monitoring is not selected and you have a low buffer setting. You'll need to be wearing cans patched into the headphone amp to hear what you're doing!
