OOps, missed that. No phantom power in line/inst mode.. The in-line pads are probably cheaper then providing phantom power. Or a stand alone mixer if you already have one. I guess if you don't need phantom power to the mic then it could work.. Lot of plain old dynamic mics out there on drums..
