Can't record direct in after upgrading from 7.4 to 8

Hi everybody,

I recently upgraded from 7.4 LE to 8 LE(I know I should be on 9 or 10). Everything installed fine and boots but pro tools won't record direct in anymore. The hardware setup is the same and was working previously.
It can very faintly detect my condenser microphone.

I'm thinking this is some issue in the preferences since I've had no hardware change. If anybody has experienced something like this and has any tips it would be much appreciated!

Running XPSP3 with Pro Tools 8 LE, DIGI 002 and Chameleon Labs CPS-1 Preamp.

Have you tried ALL the inputs of the 002? Another mic and cable? Bypassing the external preamp? If all that yields nothing, I would trash prefs and go to the IO setup page>Input tab, delete all paths and hit the default button. There's no logical reason for the update to cause this(not that I can think of anyway). BTW, try a dynamic mic or an instrument, on the off chance that the phantom power circuit has failed(but that's grasping at straws).
