I use the discontinued (sorry!) DTM from Massey to do what you wish to do. There are others out there that may do what you want. I think Drumagog can, I'm not really sure but it does have a 14 day demo period. I also read that Massey is working on a replacement for it's DTM, hopefully we'll see that soon.

Good suggestions already, and Drumagog does it all on the audio track and works quite nicely. You can even blend the original with the replacement, which also controls the bleed(like a gate but somehow it seems to work better).

You could also try tab to transient on your snare track and paste a midi note on another (midi) track at that location. Cheap and dirty way.

Since we're discussing audio to Midi..... has anyone come up with the product that will change audio, not necessarily drum tracks but just audio tracks, guitar, vocal, from audio to midi.. I read somewhere and darned if I can remember the name, a program that would change mp3 data to midi.. If you have to go track by track in a song and bounce one track at a time, it would sure be time consuming, but in the end, you could have all your audio instruments tracks having a midi track right next door!!
