Default Would this work? PCI to PCIE adaptor

I have a PC that is PCIE and there are great deals right now on PCI/PCIX ProTools HD cards. Would this work?: http://amfeltec.com/products/x1pcie-to-pci-adapter.php

It says it converts 2 32 bit PCI cards to one PCIE slot.

please try and report back. I havent heard this popping up in modern times. someone tried many years ago with problems but not with current tech.

it would be a dream if so.

Your aware your going to need to find a way to rig a pair of extremely heavy HD cards somewhere in the case right? That type of thing is meant for server cases that have aditional PCI mounts on the back panel.

I know that you can't mix PCI and PCIe HD cards in the same computer. I'm not sure if thats due to mixing card types Vs mixing buss types. If its a buss type issue then a PCI to PCIe adapter is probably not going to work.

If you have the cards and the adapter is cheap then I say try it. Research is good. If not I suggest finding an actual workstation board that designed for workstation cards. I have also seen some very cheap older Digi approved workstations on eBay.

I was just about to order it, when I found a PCIE HD2 on Craigslist for $1750. That seemed like a good deal. It's a guy that runs sound for a major tour and needed to unload it quickly. I hope someone else tries this adaptor though. The company told me they've had no issues.

Thats a killer deal on HD2 PCIe if it includes a core card and PT HD assets. Get a Transfer of Ownership form from the seller.
