G3 ?
Can anyone tell me what to get on a new G3 to run 001 or future upgrades for ProTools. I want to go to a Mac but I've always used PC's. I'm new to all of this. Thanks Eric

Re: G3 ?
For the 001 and Pro Tools LE, you should get a Blue & White G3 or the G4 (as soon as it is officially supported, so far it's looking good). The faster the computer the better. Jon |

Re: G3 ?
Hey humandiod I been told they (DIGI) is looking into it.Also their not sure, nobody is
up and running it yet. They have approved the 2940U2W which lets you run 68pin U/Wide2 lvd and 50pin U/Wide at the same time without the 50 U/Wide slowing U/Wide2.The apple card may not Allowing the Adapteck control panel 5.1.0 to access it so you can step down the transfer rate. The 2940U2B is Adapteck OEM card meaning its set up for apple and apple clamis you cant step it down with the SCSI manager. But we'll soon find out. Boss |

Re: G3 ?
At the Digi001 seminar that I just attended, the Digi sales guy was using a 350 MHz B/W G3. He was playing back 24 tracks of 24-bit audio using the INTERNAL UDMA (stock) hard drive. He admitted that he should be using a SCSI drive. But I was impressed!
Obviously, the more CPU horse power, the more tracks & effects. I just purchased the same machine. |
