Increasing/Expanding Inputs on 002 LE system
I have a rock band in the studio next week and wanted to increase my inputs to Pro Tools LE to more than 8 to cut their record LIVE. Ideally I would have 16 inputs (because I could use 8 mics on the drums alone). I wanted to know what the best way is to add inputs.
I thought the best way would be via the ADAT optical connection. This can add 8 channels of I/O in addition to the 002 8 I/Os right? I was looking at the rosetta 800, Behringer ADA8000, and ADAT XTs and LXs. I was thinking if I got an ADAT I could cut all the drums on that and then have my additional 8 I/Os on the 002 for guitars, vocals, and bass. What is the best way to achieve 16 channels of inputs in Pro Tools LE running on an 002r? The Behringer is the cheapest so that is really attractive to me, although i don't know if it sounds bad or not. Of course the rosetta would be the best choice, you get what you pay for, although have other people had success using ADATs and running them alongside PT LE? PLEASE HELP ME, I'M BUGGING OUT AND DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AND TIME IS RUNNING OUT.

Re: Increasing/Expanding Inputs on 002 LE system
I've got the Behringer, it works great, and as you said, it was very inexpensive.
The pre's don't sound like Neve's but I didn't expect it to. They sound fine. I'm sure you'll be happy with it. |

Re: Increasing/Expanding Inputs on 002 LE system
you should check out the digimax 96 and digimax LT. They are supposed to be really nice and i think the LT runs at around 799 which is pretty good for 8 pres and its adat out. Also i think focusrite came out with an octopre LE which is cheaper than the original octopre but im not sure if it comes with adat out but i think it does. Just a couple of more suggestions for you, good luck!
