Default D-Control Pro Tools 9 Strangeness

Hi all,

Since upgrading to Pro Tools 9 I've been experiencing an issue with controlling horizontal zoom with the jog wheel.

If you get a little carried away and zoom out too quickly, the zoom seems to wrap back on itself (ie. zoom all the way out and then snap to being 100% zoomed in). At which point it things get a little buggy and I find it takes a while to zoom out again.

The jog wheel zoom control has become a very fundamental part of my workflow and now I feel I have slowed down considerably because of these events.

Can anyone replicate this problem on their machines? Or has anyone experienced this already? I have tried trashing prefs.

Thanks,

Elliott

Hard to replicate with more details - what sort of system are you running? Mac/PC, what processor/RAM/OS version/QT version/PT version?

I've had the same problem since v8. As best as I can tell, it occurs during auto-save. I have my auto-save pref set to every minute, and if I begin the jog wheel zoom at the same time an autosave occurs, it frequently ends up at the maximum zoom level. ICON has had a few issues with auto-save glitches, all of which seem to have been rectified except this zoom bug. Using the jog wheel for this purpose is a huge time-saver, but this error definitely takes away from it.

hmmm ... interesting with the autosave. I'll try to keep that in mind next time I see the issue.

Yes I see thios same issue off and on. I'm on 9.02 and it's ok'ish. I am a very heavy wheel user as well. Navigating / zooming constantly with the wheel.

Sometimes I won't see it for an entire session and then at other times it happens 2 or 3 times in a row.

I get this bug as well on my D-Control... right from early days of PT8. 7.4.2 and else before hand were fine as AVID Support know.

Will keep an eye on whether the Auto-Save is a factor.

Auto-Save is set to 10 minute increments here to minimise background tasks clashing with user input timings yet the Zoom/Wrap bug I see during every instance of jog wheel based zoom.

Will post anything I find.
