Default Pro Tools Intro- can I use it to convert ptx to ptf?

I run an old ProTools system on a Windows XP machine with 3 HD cards and Protools 8. Ancient, but I like it.

But I get modern sessions from people I need to convert from ptx to ptf (which is what PT 8 needs to see). I have a macbook pro I'd like to install Protools Intro on.

Question: If I load sessions from outside full protools (9 - 12) which have dozens of tracks to protools Intro on my mac, can I convert them to .ptf sessions so I can load them into my old windows machine?

Or will tracks after #8 get truncated?

Cheers.

You can work with up to eight audio tracks, eight instrument tracks, and eight MIDI tracks in Pro Tools Intro

If you can’t get the sender of the sessions to save them to (.ptf) for you,
get the 30 days Free Trial of Pro Tools:
https://my.avid.com/get/pro-tools-trial
Open the session, ‘Save Copy In’ to .ptf (Pro Tools Session 7 -> 9)

… for future projects, you can buy just One Month of Pro Tools Studio:
“$29.99 Monthly Subscription, Paid Monthly (Download)
Enjoy the flexibility of a month-to-month subscription plan”

I'd want a peramanent solution. Can't I just open a ptx session in Protools Intro and re save it as a ptf session without even hearing it? Or will it get re saved with only 8 tracks?

Direct from the Pro Tools Intro info website…

“ It is important to understand that sessions created in other tiered versions of Pro Tools will still open in Pro Tools Intro. Any tracks beyond the capability of Pro Tools Intro (for example, audio tracks 9 and higher) will be truncated and inactive in the session. If you are working with these larger, truncated sessions, it’s suggested that you “Save As” so that you don’t affect the original session, or that you create a new session and import the tracks you need. Additionally, any plugins used in the session that are not included with Pro Tools Intro will be bypassed and inactive. You can learn more about the how this works”

And, since PT Intro is free, just install it and try what you hope to do. Now on the subject of converting larger sessions, the "best" solution would likely be to get a subscription for PT Studio so you can convert as you need(on your MBP). Were it me, I would leave the old rig for tracking and incorporate your MBP and PT Studio for working on newer sessions from others. Assuming you get paid for this, the annual cost is just another tax deduction

Thanks for that, so do you know if PT Into allows you to "save as" ptf ?
