If you want your digi hardware to continue to work with quicktime then don't go past 7.2. There has been a Quicktime core audio bug for months, the only workaround currently is to toggle between built in audio and digi HW to get playback, a complete PIA.

hey
so if i upgrade, quicktime player is the only program that wont be able to use the digi or do you mean ProTools as well?

I ask because i could handle it if only quicktime player was affected.

It's quicktime only, VLC or the like works ok. Pro Tools is fine.

This is what I'm concerned about as well --

so basically what you're saying is that if I'm running OS 10.4.11 on a mac pro and install the latest Quicktime (7.whatever) it will *not* cause my PT LE to repeatedly crash, but will simply not be audible through the digi hardware?

Thanks in advance for clarifying!

Exactly.

All that will happen is when you try and play something through QT you won't get any audio unless open sys prefs and toggle between the built in audio and the digi HW.
