Default MTRX Studio with HDX2 and Mac Pro 2019

I'm unsure if I have the cards in the correct slots. Right now I have them in slot 7 and slot 6. I'm only seeing 64 channels of HDX in my Audio/ Midi setup. Am I supposed to be seeing 128 channels or am I limited to only 64 channels because of the MTRX Studio? Or are the cards in the incorrect slots?

Also, when I launched ProTools it only updated firmware on 1 of 1 cards. So I'm not sure if it's just not seeing the second card or the card didn't need a firmware update. Both cards show up in the PCI menu of my Mac.

Two reasons: the AvidAudioServer which allows you to use HDX hardware with CoreAudio applications has a 64 channel limit; and, the MTRX Studio has two DigiLink connectors, each of which is capable of 32 channels.

Add another MTRX Studio connected to your second card and use Pro Tools, and you can access all 128.

Likely didn’t need an update although you can always run DigiTest. Open the System Usage window and check both cards are visible. Don’t forget they need to be connected internally via the short TDM/SATA cable included in the box.

1 MTRX Studio is only 64 channels in Pro Tools. There are more channels routable inside DADman but only 64 channels accessible to Pro Tools. Just remember every HDX card can only do 64 channels and each digilink connector = 32 channels maximum. MTRX Studio has 2 digilink connectors = 64 channels.

A full MTRX can do a lot more but that's because additional digilink cards can be added -- each one making 64 channels more available to hook to another HDX card.

Also, Audio/MIDI Setup (CoreAudio) will only ever max out to 64 channels with HDX hardware because it only works with the first HDX card.
Only in Pro Tools can you access the I/O connected to additional HDX cards.

Of course. Now that I’m diving into manual I see that. Thanks
