SMPTE Slave Driver - Can I use one??
Can I use a SMPTE Slave Driver with a Core Card and ADAT Bridge (Running 5.1.1) successfully????
I can't afford an USD, but have found a SSD for a bargain price. Can it lock to video/wordclock???? I need to lock Pro Tools to LTC. Would it do the same job as a USD without all the flashy lights and buttons? Cheers |

Re: SMPTE Slave Driver - Can I use one??
the SSD will take SMPTE and generate clock and MTC from it. It will not slave to an incoming clock source except for the purpose of generating SMPTE. So, putting aside the endless deabates about the quality of it's crystal, etc., it can accomplish ANALOG transfers into Pro Tools. If you need to do digital transfers into Pro Tools, slaving to an external clock source while you generate the time base, you will need a USD.
