Latency.

Non humbucker or poorly shielded pickups in front of your CRT.

Default Small, misc problems/?\'s w/ PTLE. Please Help.

Last night I was doing some harmony tracks in PT5 using the RenVerb plug-in and something very very ODD happened when singing along w/the other vocal track. I was singing the harmony perfectly, but some sort of weird "sound wave vibration" could be heard when I sang. It sounded kinda like a guitar string does when out of tune, as it gently gets tuned to pitch. And this was something that was TOTALLY not my fault as a singer. I managed to get it to stop after I brought the fader level down, but by no means was it too hot. Anyone ever experienced this? It happened numerous times on this session, and if I remember correctly, with or without the plug-in.

Another problem is when I create a new track, my I/O settings default to wierd settings. Like Mic/Line2 instead of 1, and buss-3-4 as the output and stuff. I checked my I/O settings and they all appear to be set correctly in the pref's so I'm not sure why this is happening.

Also, I looked in the manual, and maybe I'm blind, but is there anyway to adjust the TIME in which a marker starts. Say I set it by hand at 3|1|320 and want it to be at 3|1|000. I can't figure out to re-adjust that start time.

Finally, my monitor causes a dreadful buzz when tracking guitar. The only way to get around it is to turn my body/turn the monitor OFF while tracking. I was wondering if by chance a digial monitor causes this sort of thing to happen too.

Thanks!

Jason

So, that fluttery sound is latency? I thought latecny was a delay in the signal? Not a "your vocals in a fan" effect.

Will a digital monitor fix the buzz then?

Thanks.

People have actually recorded vocals thru a fan just for that effect.

You could be hearing the phasing between your vox and the recorded, or it could be the effect of hearing the sound inside your head phased with the returning delayed signal of your voice.

You must run your signal thru a mixer or something that enables you to return the signal to headphones without going thru the digi HW. (mute the recording track in PT.)

Only way I know to set marker positions:
Drag the marker and watch the position in the info-field below the nudge field.

I wouldnt sit close to a screen with a guitar pickup.

LCD monitor should greatly reduce the hum if you can afford one.

FYI Brian, your songs are deliciously crafted. I'm very very impressed with them and your Bio.

Thanks!
