Default Clip Gain rendered with Audiosuite

When I render a clip with an Audiosuite plugin, the clip gain automation volume is rendered at the same time.
Is it possible to disable it ?

Doubt it! Although I don't really see this as a problem since you can just re-adjust the clip gain as needed!

Yeah, its a work flow thing and sometimes new features require us users to alter our habits a bit. Better to do other editing first and leave clip gain for the start of your mixing phase(but as said, you can re-do or change it at any time as fast as you did it the first time around).

Ok thanks.
Of course I can redo the volume automation. But I think it's useless to render that precisly because there is now clip gain. It could be better to keep the whole volume of a clip with a plugin rendered.
Anyway I have to alter my habits or readjust the clip gain after.

The actual gain of the clip is still the same, technically (not counting how the audiosuite processing may have altered it, depending on what plugin you used). It's just the line get's reset back to 0! I don't think there's really anything you need to "alter" as far as your habits go. And there's no need to readjust it unless you actually need the clip louder or quieter.

I agree with Yanos. It should be an option.

Not really. For example a clipgain at -∞ became a clip without sound.

But the line is not alway flat... Sometimes I make volume automation inside the clip.

It's just a question of habits, but that would be better as an option.

Well of course. That's basically deleting the sound/clip, and that's not a likely scenario either. When clip gain get's rendered, even if you have random humps and lines all over the place, the results should be the same as if you bounced that audio clip to a new audio track via bus or to disk. If the actual volume of your clip is changing just from clip gain being rendered, then it sounds like you have some other issue going on! As long as you don't push the clip gain up to clipping or set it to -∞ before rendering (which no one with any sense would do), the gain can be completely restored to any volume you want!

But I guess your option request could be useful if you wish to later retweak certain clip gain points without having to recreate them. So what I would suggest is before you render any clips, copy the clip gain first, render, then paste the clip gain back onto the clip. Or duplicate the clip, render the original, then copy the clip gain from the dupe back to the original. Should work fine!

I think there is a differing approach in how others use clip gain. I use it to even out volume, for example when music is too low at some point in the mix or a vocal take has too much dynamics. So basically evening out the levels before they go into the processors-

Mixing wise I still use volume automation.

To sum it up I use clip gain before I mix.
In my case, audiosuite rendering the clip gain doesn't annoy me, as the the clip gain is more a volume repairing tool than anything else.
For others, if they use clip gain to mix, then I understand why rendering could become annoying. But I actually doubt that clip gain was introduced as a mixing tool.

Just my 2 cents,
Timothy

Slightly off topic, but is there a way to render clip gain with handles?
So far I haven't been able to do this, am I missing something?
