Bounce to Disk error - 'file too large'
I have a song session that I'd like to bounce to disk and am currently having some issues with the bounce command.
For starters, my specs: PT8 LE Mbox 2 8GB Ram 3.21 ghz quad-core processor Windows XP (looking to upgrade to 7 soon, irrelevant) My song session is about 6mins and contains approximately 30 mono tracks, a few mono aux tracks and only approx 10 plugins. I have it set to a standard sampling rate 24/48. The error I've received is telling me that ProTools 'cannot perform the bounce because the file is too large for the supported filetype' (paraphrase). Essentially it's telling me that I cannot bounce to a default stereo WAV file. However, I have other sessions that are longer and more complex and are bouncing just fine. Is it possible that the session is corrupted? If so, what should I do? PS - I'm not looking for a 'workaround' where I bounce my session down to a stereo track, etc. etc. - I'm hoping someone has a real solution. Sorry I don't have the error number on-hand! |

Re: Bounce to Disk error - 'file too large'
Are you bouncing to another drive? I wonder this cause it may be a fat 32 drive you're trying to bounce to.

Re: Bounce to Disk error - 'file too large'
Are you sure it's not "File name to large" or something similar. That's the only thing i can think of that is similar that I have ever seen. Make sure the file name you are trying to bounce to is a normal one that is not too long or has strange characters in it.

You know...I may have a dash ( - ) in the title, I'll have to check it out when I'm off work. Perhaps that's it...I'll report back.

Re: Bounce to Disk error - 'file too large'
Dashes don't matter, I use em all the time. But yes, a long FILE NAME will certainly create that error.
Forgive my ignorance, but never heard of a Paraphrase file. Did you try bouncing to a .wav file, THEN converting it? And are you converting DURING the bounce or AFTER the bounce? |
