Ableton Live 8 & Pro Tools

Hi, I got Ableton Live Lite in bundle with my M AUDIO AXIOM.

I'd like to know, if I install it on my iMac with Leopard 10.5.6,
if there is some possible conflict with Pro Tools 8 LE.

Plus, I'd like to know if Pro Tools and Ableton Live are in some way compatible or if there's a sense in which the two applications can join forces.

Ableton works well with PT. You use it through rewire. That gives you access to the warping features of Live (although PT's Elastic Audio is pretty good). You can also use Ableton instruments in PT (but not AU or VST plugs). Check out Propellerheads website for Rewire tips and the Digirack Plug Ins guide (p63) for procedure. There's probably something on youtube too.

However, you can't use vsts in Live Lite while it's rewired to PT...unless they've enabled that feature for Live 8. Speaking of which...why hasn't Ableton made an upgrade for use Live Lite 7 users like they have for every release since 4?
